Six times World Champion, Jim Redman, will be making his Castle Combe debut at the Wiltshire circuit’s annual Grand National meeting over the weekend of Saturday & Sunday, 2nd & 3rd July.
It’ll be a rare opportunity for you to witness Redman, on the 500cc 4-cylinder Honda race bike, completing several laps of the track during Sunday’s Tribute Parade. He’ll be joined by David Hailwood and Freddie Sheene, the sons of two other famous racing icons.
There’s plenty for you to see and do on both days at the Grand National, which is being backed by Fowlers, who will be displaying the 2016 line-up of KTM motorcycles for you to check out.
You’ll be treated to a packed programme of 20 races each day, including rounds of the ACU 125GP and 250GP British Championships, as well as sidecars and just about every solo class imaginable, plus the Classic Parade.
Another great motorcycling name will be celebrated at the Grand National, with the launch of the Ray Petty Trophy for the first Norton home in Sunday afternoon’s Lansdowne British Historic Championship feature race. You may recall that Ray was an accomplished racer & tuner during the 1950s and some of his bikes will be on show, as well as the unique Norton-powered Petty car.
Nortons from a later era will feature too – Steve Spray will demonstrate one of the JPS Rotary bikes that he rode to British Championship success in the late 1980s.
As part of its 90th anniversary celebrations, Fowlers are backing the coveted ‘King of Castle Combe’ Trophy Race again this year, which is also a milestone for the Castle Combe Circuit, as it’s celebrating the 65th anniversary of its first bike meeting, back in 1951.
