Suzuki GSX-R 1000R Price Revealed

Suzuki reveal pricing of the new GSX-R1000R and GSX-R1000

Suzuki have revealed the price of the new GSX-R1000 models ahead of the launch at Phillip Island next week.

The higher specification GSX-R1000R which has been built from the ground up for 2017, will come with a price-tag of £16,099 and is expected in dealerships in May, while the standard GSX-R1000 will come with a price of £13,249 and is expected to arrive in dealerships in late March. As with other manufacturers, expect some appealing finance and PCP packages to take the sting out of

It has been one of the most eagerly awaited machines of 2017. Rob Cooper, marketing manager for Suzuki GB, commented: “Anticipation is high for both the GSX-R1000R and the GSX-R1000, and we’re delighted to be able to confirm highly-competitive pricing for both models.

The headline feature of the new machine is the engine, which uses a variable valve timing system that’s been taken directly from the GSX-RR MotoGP bike. It's a clever design and taking this technology from the GP bike means that the system has to be completely mechanical with no hydraulics or electrical aids.

It’s the first time that VVT has been used on a production superbike and will help give the new machine a more linear feel in the powerband.

The GSX-R1000R makes 202hp at 13,200rpm and 86.7ftlb of torque at 8000rpm. It also features an inertial measurement unit-controlled 10-mode traction control system and cornering ABS, as well as launch control and a bi-directional quickshifter and auto-blipper. The GSX-R1000 gets the same power and torque figures as the R model.

The bike will also feature Showa’s excellent Balance Free Front forks and Balance Free Cushion shock, while the standard model gets Big Piston forks and a matching shock at the rear.
