BARGAIN HUNTER - ALPINESTARS GP PRO JACKET

BARGAIN HUNTER - ALPINESTARS GP PRO JACKET

Alpinestars have been making top quality motorcycle kit since 1963 and are the choice of many of the world’s best racers, like Marc Marquez in MotoGP and John McGuinness at the TT.

The GP Pro leather jacket combines racing technology with with everyday comfort for road riders, so that it can be worn with leather trousers or biker jeans.

Made from 1.3mm full-grain leather, with external Dynamic Friction Shield (DFS) protectors on shoulders and elbows and advanced poly-textile accordion stretch inserts on back and elbows for a performance fit, the jacket’s racing pedigree is clear to see.

For road riding, the GP Pro is fitted with a 270 degree waist connection zipper, for attachment to Alpinestars’ riding trousers, has an extended lower back profile to prevent a gap between jacket and jeans, and reflective detailing for improved rider visibility.

CE-certified protectors to shoulders and elbows offer superior impact protection and an ingenious snap connection system allows a CE level 2-certified Nucleon KR-R Back Protector to be fitted, for ultimate protection.

MCN Senior Road Tester Michael Neeves covered 20,000 miles in his GP Pro, describing it as his “favourite black leather biker jacket” and, after 5 years use, reckons it will “easily go on for another 5 years”.

If you’re looking for a top quality leather jacket that will last you for yeas, and you like a bargain, the Alpinestars GP Pro leather jacket is currently available from Fowlers Motorcycles for just £379.99, a saving of £120 compared to the regular price of £499.99.

Suzuki GSX-R 1000R Price Revealed

Suzuki reveal pricing of the new GSX-R1000R and GSX-R1000

Suzuki have revealed the price of the new GSX-R1000 models ahead of the launch at Phillip Island next week.

The higher specification GSX-R1000R which has been built from the ground up for 2017, will come with a price-tag of £16,099 and is expected in dealerships in May, while the standard GSX-R1000 will come with a price of £13,249 and is expected to arrive in dealerships in late March. As with other manufacturers, expect some appealing finance and PCP packages to take the sting out of

It has been one of the most eagerly awaited machines of 2017. Rob Cooper, marketing manager for Suzuki GB, commented: “Anticipation is high for both the GSX-R1000R and the GSX-R1000, and we’re delighted to be able to confirm highly-competitive pricing for both models.

The headline feature of the new machine is the engine, which uses a variable valve timing system that’s been taken directly from the GSX-RR MotoGP bike. It's a clever design and taking this technology from the GP bike means that the system has to be completely mechanical with no hydraulics or electrical aids.

It’s the first time that VVT has been used on a production superbike and will help give the new machine a more linear feel in the powerband.

The GSX-R1000R makes 202hp at 13,200rpm and 86.7ftlb of torque at 8000rpm. It also features an inertial measurement unit-controlled 10-mode traction control system and cornering ABS, as well as launch control and a bi-directional quickshifter and auto-blipper. The GSX-R1000 gets the same power and torque figures as the R model.

The bike will also feature Showa’s excellent Balance Free Front forks and Balance Free Cushion shock, while the standard model gets Big Piston forks and a matching shock at the rear.

Suzuki GSX-S 750 - First Ride!

Any bike that is reasonably light, claims 112.6 bhp of power and is graced with precise steering is going to a lot of fun to ride. With what probably equates to a touch over 100 bhp at the rear wheel the Suzuki GSX-S 750 does not disappoint. https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/bikes/suzuki/suzuki-gsx-s750---first-ride-and-review

Guy Martin Makes TT Return

Guy Martin is making a TT comeback, partnering John McGuinness on the all-new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2.

Making his return to racing after a year away, fan favourite Martin will form a formidable team with McGuinness and the brand new Fireblade SP2 on the roads. Martin has enjoyed huge success on the roads during his career, securing wins at various races including the Ulster GP, Scarborough Gold Cup, Armoy, Cookstown and also the Southern 100. He has also stepped on the TT podium 15 times and will be chasing his elusive maiden TT win with the Honda Racing team.

Meanwhile, McGuinness will be looking to add to his impressive tally of 23 TT wins and, riding the new Fireblade SP2, will also be aiming to recapture his lap record which was broken during last year’s race.

The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade is the most successful 1000cc machine ever at the Isle of Man TT and Honda aims to add to its remarkable record with the new SP2 version, which is the ultimate expression of the Fireblade’s Next Stage Total Control concept.

The SP2 is a road-legal homologation special, based on the Fireblade SP, that is specifically developed for racing and features a revised cylinder head with larger valve sizes and lightweight Marchesini wheels for even greater performance.

The all-new Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2 will make its road racing debut at the North West 200 in May.

Guy Martin said: "Neil [Tuxworth] has been talking to me for a while about joining the team but I had a lot of thinking to do before I committed and said yes. I spent a lot of time on my push bike to and from work, thinking about what to do. I didn’t want to grow old regretting not giving the Honda a go and the more time passes since making the decision, the more time I’ve thought it is the right decision.

"Honda is a great team and the Fireblade has always been a weapon on the roads so, with the new bike, I‘m keen to give it a go. We’ve got a busy testing schedule coming up and I’ve put some other stuff off to make time. John [McGuinness] is the man.  I’ve got massive respect for him and I’m looking forward to racing on the Fireblade against him."

This years TT is hotting up to the best ever! Can't wait for the first practice..
